UNC altmetric training

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and University Libraries are co-sponsoring trainings for two resources that help researchers track the impact of their work, seek collaborative opportunities and understand funding trends.

Altmetric can be used to track mentions of research across various platforms, including news reports, social media discussions, references in policy, saves in reference managers and citations on Wikipedia. Dr. Fei Yu of the Health Sciences Libraries has demonstrated a powerful use case of this resource: she helped create researcher impact profiles for a department within the School of Medicine and performed a full text search across all available publications to examine the use of exact quotations in defining key terminology.
