2022 Summer Institute for College Teaching

June 22, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 9:00 am, repeating until June 24, 2022

UNC’s Summer Institute for College Teaching is a professional development experience for any faculty, postdocs, and graduate students who are interested in learning about the best practices for brining active learning to their classrooms.  It will be held in-person from June 20-24, 2022.

Sessions will run from approximately 9:00 am – 4:00 pm each day, although the exact schedule is still under development and subject to change. Participants in the workshop series will learn how to foster diverse and inclusive classrooms, optimally implement active learning techniques, assess their instruction, and design learning goals and effectively use class time to help students achieve those goals.

Attendees of all 8 workshops will earn a certificate as an Education Fellow.

Please note that we intend to follow public health recommendations for our in-person Summer Institute in order to best protect the health of all participants. Depending on the course of the pandemic, we may need to make changes to the format and schedule of the Summer Institute. Any changes will be communicated to all participants as soon as possible. Since we will be in-person, spots in the Summer Institute may be limited. Please apply by March 31, 2022 for full consideration.

The Summer Institute is supported by the College of Arts and Sciences.

If you are interested in applying for a spot in the Summer Institute, or if you want to learn more about it, please visit our website at https://summer-institute.unc.edu/. An application form is available at that site. If you have any questions, please contact the Director of the Summer Institute, Colin Wallace, at cswphys@email.unc.edu.”
